In the period leading up to the outbreak of hostilities known as the Revolutionary War, Great Britain's treatment of its thirteen American colonies may be generally characterized as oppressive. While the colonists were often just a generation or two (or much less) removed from residence in the home-country, the taxation and billeting policies enforced upon the colonists suggested that they were seen by their British overseers as a mere source of revenue and resource, rather than being confraternal brethren. Firstly, they treated them by slavery, this was becasue Britain was an evil country at the time as they could not be bothered doing anything so they picked on other people such as the Americans and used them as slaves of the country. secondly, the colonies that Britain owned were payed very little for their work, though they worked very hard and did the best they could their payment was little. thirdly, they didnt get to see any relatives if they lived out of the country. If they were kept as slaves they wernt allowed to leave the country they were in, because this meant they would not be working for a period of time, so the answer was no to leaving the country. Also if a slave wanted to emigrate to another country because of the weather and the working jobs, they were allowed to though the person who is incharge of the slave would have to go with him and let his new boss know that he would still have to be kept as a slave.
