The Indus River valley peoples' concern for practicality and convenience can best be seen in the attention to detail found in their two main cities, Mohenjo Daro and Harappa. Both cities were laid out in a precise grid-like pattern and were exceptionally clean, with public water and sewage systems. Many homes had their own wells, indoor Plumbing, and built-in brick ovens. The practical sophistication of the Indus River valley peoples, the Harappans, is obvious in the careful planning of their cities.
