In anctient Egypt the people would get the bodies and put them in som type of liquid that would preserve the body, and then I think they would roll them in salt. Then they would put special oils on the bodies and that would complete the process of mummifiction.

This didn't wasn't practiced until the Middle Kingdom, however. (Before, the heat of the desert was relied upon) * Mummies would be wrapped in linen to keep out invading organisms (insects, etc)
after they died they drained all body fluids and took out their organs and put special salt on their bodies then waited about 80 days and went back and wrapped the body in cloth

I'm not sure,but it is a mixture of common salt and sodium-bi-carbonate.Egyptians used to use nitron to not only preserve fish but also preserve their mummies.But do confirm it. But i do know that it was used by the ancient Egyptians to help dry dead bodies.
