How the new constitution fixes the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation?

The Constitution fixed the weaknesses by allowing the central government certain powers/rights. Below are some of the items the Articles did not address:

Constitution became the supreme law of the United States.

Congress now has the right to levy taxes.

Congress has the ability to regulate trade between states and other countries.

Creation of a federal court system.

Executive branch with power of checks and balance for legislature and judiciary.

Amendments are easier by being ratified if 2/3 of congress and 3/4 of house pass it.

Representation in house is based on population, while senate are equal to all other states.

On the third day of the establishment of the Constitution, Edmond Randolph of Virginia proposed a plan for a new, strong central government. James Madison was the principal author of the Virginia Plan which called for the central government to have three separate branches; Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branch.

We had the power to tax and borrow money so the govenment could actually do stuff. Also originally we only had a legisltative branch to make laws and that was it. The gov had no way to enforce laws. Also with the constitution gave the central government the power to regulate trade and commerce.
