Does DARE still exist?
The DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program that was used in the public school system a lot during the late 90's is still in existence; however, it is not as popular as it once was. The reason for its drop in popularity is because it actually caused more kids to start trying drugs instead of having them stay away from them. The reason for the drug increase is because DARE use to explain in detail the kinds of things that each of the drugs would do and in their cartoons that were shown in class it would have really cool pictures of stuff that you saw when you were on the drugs. The DARE program did not mean for this to happen but more or less was using scare tactics that failed and so now there is a much larger drug problem. This is a good program; it just could have been handled better from the start instead of what happened to it.
