the main reason they failed is because they were not willing to use collective force to stop Japan. Another reason is Japan left the league and this proved the league had no power over big countries. Again the league did not impose on sanctions and they also took too long investagating,1 year, by which time Manchuria had been totally taken over.

it collapsed the league of nations, and the Manchurian crisis was one of the reasons to World War II. the league of nations tried to settle japan down , asking it to withdraw from Manchuria, but japan refused its requests. Japan withdrew from the League of nations. The league of nations asked its members to refuse to trade with japan, but they too ignored their requests because they did not want to increase their economic troubles as they were going through a time of depression. When no country listened to the league of nations, the league of nations faced a disturbing reality. they had no real control over countries that would not recognize the league's authority.

The Japanese conquest of China which began on September 18, 1931 with the Mukden Incident, led the League of Nations to vote to condemn the Japanese aggression in Manchuria on March 25, 1933. Two days later the Japanese government announced its withdrawal from the League effective in two years. Next, Japan widened its aggression into northern China in May 1933. The League of Nations had very little real power to prevent aggression, although it was a moral sounding board for international behavior & infractions of international law. Because the League had little power, this caused newly elected US President Roosevelt to take a tougher stance against Japanese aggression than the previous President or the other western powers represented in the region.

The League did absolutely nothing about it. They figured they should leave well enough alone because it had no effect on them, so why bother?

Why did the league of nation fail to deal with the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931?

The League of Nations failed to effectively deal with the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931 due to various factors. Firstly, several major powers, including Britain and the US, were hesitant to take strong action against Japan as they had their own economic and strategic interests in the region. Additionally, the League lacked enforcement mechanisms, and member states were not willing to commit military forces to intervene. Ultimately, the League's inability to impose meaningful sanctions or halt Japanese aggression undermined its credibility and effectiveness.

When did the United Nations emerge?

After the Second World War it was clear that the League of Nations (group set up to deal with global humanitarian issues) wasn't working, so in 1945 50 countries signed a charter that set out the aims of what was known as the United Nations Organisation, eventually coming into being on 24th October 1945 (hence why we celebrate United Nations Day on the 24th of October)
