There are three ways (Bodhis) which you can reach Nirwana. Those are Sammā-Sambodhi(Lord Buddha), Pacceka-Bodhi and Savaka-Bhodhi(Arahath).
The easiest way to get enlightenment (or reach Nirwana) is the Savaka-Bhodhi.
Those who obtained the enlightenment by following teachings of the Samma-Sambuddha are obtained enlightenment through Savaka-Bhodhi. They have to do concentrated meditation (Bhavana) to develop Samadhi (Samatha meditation). Then with developed mind they have to think about three marks of existence (Samsara) which is Anicca, Dukkha and Anatta. (Vipassanā meditation). Doing this with big effort they will understand Four Noble Truths clearly. So they will attain Nirvana (get enlightenment).
If you have cultivated enough virtues connected with Bodhi (bodhipaksa dharma) you can reach Nirwana in this life because still not exceeded 5000years range from the Gautama Lord Buddha's enlightenment.
First thing you have to do is believe the supreme state of Lord Buddha(infinite intelligence, infinite power, infinite kindness, ..) and existence of Karma. Then follow Noble Eightfold Path, Study Dharma and do Mediation (Vipassana). You will be reaching Nirwana definitely with permanent happy and without any more sufferings in sad Samsara(infinite cycle of rebirth).
Nirvana is two things
1.) It is the state of being free from suffering. It is praised in Indian religions .
2.) A grunge rock band formed in the late 80's and rose to fame in the early 90's. Formed by the legendary vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain.
everyone in death & before birth & many in life too Answer#2 Nirvana is a state of mind. It is not a place like earth or the physical moon. All living beings is a composite of energies; physical and mental. The physical body is the composite of the four great unchanging elements of earth, water, fire and air which grow in the number of units as we grow larger or healthier. When we die the four elements return to their original unchanging form. The 'mind' energy migrate from past lives to presen tlife to future lives. the mind strength can go higher or lower depending on the spiritual evolution of the mind; if you do good it grow stronger while if you do evil it deteriote its strength. When the state of mind is at the purest it enters Nirvana and until then we are always in Samsara, the suffering state of mind.
Nirvana is a state of egoless existence. It is attained by becoming enlightened. Enlightenment is attained when you are in accord with the principles of the Eightfold path and have attained freedom from desire.
The extinguishing of desire and the dissolution of the self.
