I don't remember what all fasteners you need to remove it on a T700 or T600 offhand, but for the T660, T700, T680, and T880, you need a ratchet and 17mm socket. Once you've undone those six fasteners, it pulls right off, and your battery box is there. On the T660, there's a plastic cover held in place by a rubber strap which will have to be removed.
