How do you get into a sorority?

Pledging a sorority is a process first you go through formal recruitment, then you will have a pinning night, then you will be given a big sister finally you will be initiated into the sorority depending on your sorority rules.

Usually schools have recruitment in the fall and some schools have it in the spring. Fall recruitment is more formal and you get to go to all the sororities houses, meet the girls, and talk to them. I recommend this because it allows you to find out where you feel most comfortable. Recruitment lasts about a week and you go to fewer and fewer houses until you are down to a couple and then the sorority gives you a bid inviting you to join their sorority.

If you'd like to start a sorority, there are a number of steps you have to take. The first and most basic step is to contact the office of Greek Life at your University if you'd like to make it official. However, you don't necessarily need to make an official organization, and you can create an unofficial or "underground" sorority as well. They are becoming more and more popular as of late.

Gather a group of women (5-25 girls to start) and begin writing your constitution. What do you believe in? What do you want to represent? How do you want to be viewed by the community? What is your mission statement and your motto?

Hold elections to select your officers, and collect dues to fund your Sorority. Then, begin creating a rush and pledge process for new members. Initiate those members, and repeat.
