How do airsoft gun works?

There are several different kinds of airsoft guns. In general, they all use air or gas to propel the plastic ball called a BB.

Spring gunsThe simplest and cheapest airsoft guns are spring guns. As the name implies, they work by means of a spring, which pushes a piston. The spring is compressed when the gun is cocked by racking the slide or charging handle. Pulling the trigger releases the piston, spring pushes it forward, and the piston pushes the air through the barrel, expelling the BB. Electric gunsThe next step in airsift is Automatic Electric Guns, or AEGs. These guns also use a piston and a spring, but the spring compression is done by an electric motor through a gearbox. The motor can compress the spring many times in rapid succession, and the AEGs are usually automatic, which means they are able to shoot in bursts. Due to gearbox size limitations AEGs are usually replicas of rifles or submachine guns. Gas gunsGas guns use a reservoir of compressed gas and a valve. Pulling the trigger opens the valve and allows some of the gas to escape. Valves are really small, and gas reservoirs can be made in different shapes, so this system is usually used in pistols. The gas used in airsoft is most commonly the r134 air conditioning refrigerant with lubricant additives. Some guns use carbon dioxide cylinders that are also used in BB guns.
