I know you are from William E. Dever School. This exact question was asked during science 305.. This question was posted today no answers yet.. just mine. It was for homework. You lazy dumb f**k I bet you didn't pay attention to the video. SO good luck with your paper and I hope you get an F on it :)
I think it is because black is the opposite of white, and sunlight is more to the white side because it is bright. Therefore, black will absorb while white will mostly reflect since they are similar on the color scale.
black absorbs more heat and white reflects heat
Yes different colors do absorb heat differently. You can tell that darker colors absorb more heat than lighter colors because the light reflects off of the light colors.
It is most likely because black is the darkest color which makes it more hot.
That has to do with how colour is seen. What happens is black absorbs all light (theoretically, in reality some light is reflected otherwise we wouldn't see it), which shows our eyes nothing. White reflects all light, which shows our eyes white. Black, absorbing all light, stores a massive amount of heat as radiation (no not like Radioactive Waste radiation), which is then radiated out. Basically, black gets hot faster because it absorbs more light.
Background radiation come from black body radiation which is mostly infrared and microwave. Background radiation is not harmful at all. Fear from background radiation come from confusion of the word radiation where we mostly concern nuclear radiation, but light is also a form of radiation and we live within the bright day light on a normal basis.
black
Darker materials tend to absorb solar heat, while lighter materials reflect it.
Black absorbs radiation. A perfectly black body would absorb all the radiation that is incident upon it.
Simple materials can be used like black plastic or metal pipe. You want materials that will absorb heat and transmit that heat to the liquid.
black steel
Black shirts absorb more and reflect less radiation.
because its a good emitter/absorber of radiation
Is because the radiation of the sun
The visible light spectrum corresponds to the range of wavelength from0.38 to 0.76 microns of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum.Solid materials that have an absorptivity, α, close to 1 (a material withα = 1 is called a black body, and absorbs all the thermal radiation thathits him including visible light, a hypothetical concept) absorb most of theincident light radiation. Materials that have a mat (lusterless) black colorhave α close to 1.
the light attracts to black so it makes it hotter Black objects are black because they absorb all the visible radiation that falls on it. That light is then converted into infrared radiation which is essentially heat. White reflects radiation so you are cooler wearing white.
No! Different surfaces absorb and reflect differing amounts of radiation from the sun. The degree of reflectance is known as "albedo". Some materials reflect much more energy than others. For example snow fields reflect a very large proportion of solar radiation (they have a high albedo) whereas materials like tarmac (which is black and so reflects very little radiation, and conversely absorbs the majority of it) has a low albedo. This is why tarmac (and other dark surfaces) can become very hot on a sunny day.
skinny metal
Different materials absorb different wavelengths of visible radiation from sources like the sun or light bulbs. The wavelengths that are not absorbed are reflected as visible radiation, and the color we see depends on the wavelength of that reflected light, with a longer wavelength correlating to more reddish colors, and shorter wavelengths with more bluish colors. White objects reflect all of the visible radiation that strike them, which is why they absorb less heat than black objects, which reflect much less visible radiation.
