Like all animals, whales need oxygen, which they get by coming to the surface to get a breath of air. They need water, which they drink from the ocean, and then they filter out the excess salt through their kidneys. They also need food, which, for most whales, means krill or small fish. Most species of whale can only get food from the polar regions, and therefor their habitats their need to be protected. During the winter, most whales move south to tropical or subtropical waters to breed. These areas must also be protected. The primary threat to whales is human whalers, which, thanks to an international treaty, has almost ceased. However, Japanese whalers are still taking their toll on the whale population. For people to protect whales, the Japanese must stop whaling soon.

Watch for them and keep your distance because these invulnerable whales can get frightened and stressed. Also, use phosphate free detergents and limit your use of chemials in the garden. Choose organic food and do ntot eat endangered food to reduce impact on food chains. Reduce use of fossil fuels and join a conservation group to help save the blue whale. Also don't pollute! Not the ocean nor the planet! And only buy seafood that is MSC certified. This can help to reduce the incidence of marine bycatch, which kills whales and other marine life like turtles, dolphins, and seabirds.

They breath the oxygen that is in the water and eat small organisms like krill. They are mildly clean because fish and other organisms eat all the extra food around their mouth and other things that may e on their body.
