You will need a diamond drill bit that is specially designed for glass. They are not terribly expensive. A 1/4 inch Hitachi bit is $14.99. There are much cheaper generic bits on Amazon. Use moderate pressure. A drill press is best. Use water for lubrication. Use moderate speeds. Raise the bit once or more per minute. Reduce pressure as the bit approaches drill-through.
Tempered glass is almost always going to break even with careful drilling.
Use a diamond drill bit specifically for cutting non-safety glass and a drill on a slow speed (600 to 800 RPM's). Use water to lubricate the bit while you are drilling and clean off the bit often. Work slowly while using very little pressure against the drill.
A diamond glass drill. I have them and yet never got to use them. So practice first.
Drilling a hole in a glass jar requires a specialized drill bit usually a diamond tipped one.
Yes, but not with the usual drill bit. Drilling a hole in glass is accomplished with an abrasive that actually wears a hole through the glass.
A glass drill or diamond saw
Yes you can use a drill for glass, but glass/ceramic bit will need to be purchased at a local hardware or building center. Once the bit is purchased use the highest speed setting..
A glass drill is a specialized tool used to make holes in glass. Typically it will have a diamond tipped drill bit. This tool is needed because glas is very strong and delicate, and a typical drill will crack or shatter the glass rather than make a smooth hole.
Yes, it is possible. Youtube has plenty of videos showing how to do it.

yes. using a diamond bit and water.
Read on! You'll use these same techniques to drill glass, glass block, tile, stone, granite, wine bottles, sea glass and marble. # # Use diamond bits to drill your glass, not carbide bits. # Use diamond hole saws to drill holes 1/4" and larger or to drill holes in thick glass like glass block or wine bottles. # Use plenty of lubrication/coolant to keep your drill tip cool and the hole clean. # Use less pressure! Let your drill bit drill at it's own pace. # Start diamond hole saws at 600-900 RPM. # Start diamond drill bits at 2500-5000 RPM. If you use these 6 secrets, drilling glass and tile is quick and easy. The FAQs below should answer any other questions you might have. * http://www.drillglass.com/hehiforbe.html
Take a large empty plastic soda pop bottle. Drill a hole in the lid and force a straw into the hole. Put a BB in the straw and smash the bottle. It's an old kid trick.
You can drill a hole in the side of anything with the right drill.
you can cut a hole in wood using a special drill attachment. alternatively you could drill a hole then cut a hole with a jigsaw
Laminated glass and tempered glass are not necessarily the same thing. Tempered glass cannot be drilled, but untempered laminated glass could (probably) be drilled. Holes in tempered glass are drilled before tempering.
