When people speaks their vocal chords vibrate at different frequencies and these vibrations create sound. Sound is just a series of compression waves in air that travels at approximately 340 m/s. These compression waves reach your ear and vibrates your ear drums at the same frequency. The hair cells in your ear translate these vibrations to nerve signals and these nerve signals travel to your brain, which then interprets these series of vibrations as a voice.

Can you talk and breathe simultaneously?

Yes, humans are able to talk and breathe simultaneously because breathing is an automatic process controlled by the brainstem, while talking involves the coordination of muscles in the mouth and throat.

Is talking an organism?

No, talking is not an organism. Talking is a behavior or action carried out by organisms, typically humans, as a means of communication. Organisms such as humans have the ability to talk, whereas the act of talking itself is not a living organism.

Why are humans the only creature that can talk?

Humans aren't the only "creatures" that can "talk".....dogs "talk" by a language not understood by humans same goes with all other animals. It's like if you don't know mandarin (chinese language) and go to china where people there talk mandarin ... would you say that they don't talk? While it's true that other animals (such as whales and dolphins) communicate with sound, human speech is vastly more expressive and very complex. First and foremost, our brains have evolved to such a state that they are capable of thought which is probably vastly superior to even the most intelligent of the other mammals. We are capable of forming incredibly complicated ideas about our lives and the world we live in. Speech is communication between humans using words -- hundreds of thousands of them! Words are symbols of things or ideas or characteristics or actions, or are sometimes used simply to help put other words into a more understandable structure. Humans are thus able to communicate and assist one another with projects much greater than any individual could accomplish -- such as escaping this planet and setting foot on the moon. A project like that would be unthinkable for any other species on earth. A second reason that only humans "talk" may be evolutionary. Humans, who rely heavily on communication to thrive as a species, have developed mouths and mouth muscles that are capable of making many different sounds. The muscles around our lips can form our mouth into many different shapes, and the tongue can assume a multitude of positions for changing sound. Our vocal chords have the ability to add intonation and change the pitch of the sounds we make. Other species don't have the combination of characteristics that have allowed humans to develop speech as they have developed it.

What is a short form for humans?

A common short form for humans is "humans" or simply "homo sapiens."

Do cats think humans are cute?

Cats do not think humans are cute in the same way humans might find cats cute. Cats may see humans as providers of food and care, but they do not have the same emotional response towards humans as humans do towards cats.
