You will need to take the medal plate off of the back of the rear end housing. Be sure to put a drain pan under it to catch the gear oil. Jack the back of the truck up and put it onJACK STANDS ONLY. Then get a piece of paper and pin so you can write some numbers down. Now after you remove the plate off of the rear end you will see a big gear with teeth on it, You need to count all the teeth that is on it and right it down. Then look way back up in the housing towards the area that the drive shaft hooks to the rear end and you will see another gear that runs in the big gear that you just counted the teeth on. Now count those teeth and write it down. It will be tricky to count them. You will need to mark you a starting place when you start counting so you will count them right. Now here's how you no the gear ratio. Divide your small # of teeth into the large # of teeth and that will be the gear ratio.
It does not have one. Chevy did not use them on there trucks.

There are three ways to find a gear ratio. 1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number. 2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement info. 3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft to get one complete turn of the tires.
Yes, that would be the easiest way to find out.
