how to remove rearview mirror in 98 Lincoln continental
If it is the same as the green light on my Dodge Durango rearview mirror, it dims the amount of light being reflected off of the mirror from lights behind you. You can turn the dim feature off (indicated by the green light being off) with a button on the rearview mirror.
i have the same exact problem
go to auto parts store and get arear view mirror glue kitAnother Take:I had to replace the inside mirror in the '95 I just bought. Picked up a new mirror which came with glue. I followedtheir directions to the letter. The mirror fell off in 2 days.Went back to the parts store and bought some "better" glue.I scraped all the old glue off the windshield and cleaned it withalcohol. Then, I sanded the surfaceof the button that glues onto the windshield. Glued the buttonon per the directions. Left it overnight complete with tape tohold it in place. The next morning when I went to mount themirror onto the button, it fell off in my hands.I gave up on mirror glue and used JB Weld instead. It's beenon there for a week and a half now and all seems to be OK.Moral of the story, WD-40, duct tape and JB Weld wild fix almostanything!
To replace just the mirror, loosen the screw (hex or phillips) and slide the mounting bracket up and off the part attached to the windshield. Slide the replacement mirror on and tighten.
Turn off with the temp button, BUT HOLD FOR 5 SECONDS, it should change
There should be one torx screw on the bottom side of the mirror bracket, remove it and slide the mirror up, if the whole mirror has fallen off go to a parts store and they will have a kit to glue the windshield mount back on, then slide the mirror back on.
I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The rearview mirror on my car has twin maplights, and on the back it says "Donnelly IE 8012001". I just re-glued my mirror to the windshield after it fell off. Some other cars use a screw to attach the button to the mirror, but this mirror does not. Instead, I used a flat-head screwdriver to pry the button out of the mirror -- be careful to not to hurt yourself or the mirror. After prying the button out, I studied the mirror, and there doesn't appear to be any other way to remove the button. When gluing the button to the windshield, be careful to figure out which side and orientation the button needs to face before gluing it to the windshield.
because everything will look darker u run the risk of perhaps not seeing a car behind you which has its lights turned off
It means your vision is obscured and could result in a ticket. And sunlight reflecting off of it can distract both the driver and drivers of other vehicles.
