Well, its nocturnal so it will sleep in the day. For a couple days USUALLY it may NOT SLEEP when you first get it, but mine (had it for 7 months) is peacefully sleeping. L geckos have eyelids so you know when they're sleeping and like to sleep when someone is talking in a gentle tone, the sound of nothing, or something going on, (like TV).

If the leopard gecko sleeps too much, it might be it thinks that not enough food are out for it. So to save its energy, it can "put itself on hold" for a little while..like the bear.. But usually not long. On the other hand,,if it looks depressed/bored and maybe need some entertainment to make it a little more "active". Try changing his sorroundings every month or so,,it will make him/her/them investigating their area,,so it can learn it by heart again. It is not bad for them, as in nature they go from place to place all over India, Iran, Afghanistan etc..

Good luck with your reptile, whoever comes here reading :)

In the desert they would sleep under a rock or some sort of plant. If you are keeping one as a pet they will sleep in almost any hide they can crawl under.

Naturally, these animals are native to North/East/N.Eastern Asia. These animals thrive in a desert environment and tend to burrow in order to find moisture. Nest's are usually burrows under slate/limestone rocks. During the days, these animals will bask on warm rocks to assist their digestive systems.

In captivity, most breeders will use a humid hide & a dry hide to ensure their leopard geckos have a selection in their sleeping quarters.
