The major component of getting good grades is persistence. The difference between an A and a B is effort that you put into your work, and the same goes for the difference between a B and a C (or any lower mark). If you study a little bit each day, it makes it that much easier to review for tests, and for assignments, if you start brainstorming or writing them that much earlier, the easier the process will be. I think the secret to maintaining a B average, therefore, is to do things early and keep working.

Some general tips:

1) Do your work in a quiet place.

2) Try to do work early in the day, as well, because unless you're a true nighthawk, the nighttime will be much less productive.

3) Break down large assignments into little pieces (keep a daily to-do-list with the smaller parts and a weekly to-do-list with overall assignments)

4)Get a tutor if you're struggling with concepts. DON'T be afraid to ask for help

5)Lastly, keep a goal in mind. Find out why you want to have a B average, and keep that in mind. I would even suggest putting up on the wall in front of you desk so you're constantly reminded of it. The best thing I did during my exams was to put the quote "Quitter never wins, winner never quits" over my desk.

When you apply for grants for college students, you will be asked to provide a transcript of your grades so far. If you are failing your classes, the people who are handing out the money will want to give it to someone else. They do not want to pay for you to fail, after all, when the money could be spent on someone who will excel. You need to keep your grades up as high as you can. This will make you money because it will make it so that you are eligible for grants that you could not have gotten otherwise.
