Renewable energy and resources (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass and biofuel) do not affect the environment very much compared to their advantages. They need land for their windmills and water turbines, and some of the bigger power plants like dams can damage the river environment.

However, they do not produce pollution and carbon dioxide, and they do not contribute to global warming. This is why they are much better than fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.
