Roller Coasters go fast because they use gravity to their advantage. Because the cars weigh a lot, they fall at very high speeds from high in the air. Some of the new roller coasters being built also are propelled forward using the force created by high powered magnets.

Roller Coasters go really fast because when your on them with other people there is a lot of weight on the roller coaster which make them go faster. Then roller coasters have wheels and your also going down hills some of the time.

Gravity. If you look hard at a coaster, the cars are moved by power to a high point, and released. After that, they are moved downhill by gravity. They coast- which is why they are roller coasters.
