They don't try to trick you. They do try to make you think before you answer, so some of the questions must be read carefully before you choose an answer.

Why do people Get paranoid when their test answers are b c d a c c c c c c?

People get paranoid, because the repetition of the same answer suggests a trick is being played and they begin to read too much into the pattern. It's a mind game. They begin to resist "C" as answer, doubting their own answers. A person who succumbs to this trick, scores poorly on a standardized test, not because they do not know the information asked, but because they are afraid to keep answering "C". "C " is the most common correct answer on a standardized test. When you do not know the answer ( and are not penalized for incorrect answers) you're best option is "C". I have taken standardized U.S. government aptitude tests for a variety of positions. On one occasion (Marine Corps Officer Training), I answered only 98 of 100 questions and was given a score of 100%. I felt that the 2 questions I left blank did not offer appropriate options for a correct answer, so I did not answer. I questioned the testing Officer as to how I could score 100% on a test when I did not answer all of the questions? He replied that, with a score of 100%, I'd know more about that then him, he only graded test.
