The two reactions of photosynthesis are connected by two substances: ATP and NADPH. These are produced by the light dependent reaction and are used by the light independent reaction. ATP is produced from ADP and Pi (phosphate): ADP + Pi ---> ATP This reaction requires energy to make it work, and this energy comes from light absorbed in the light dependent reaction. NADPH is produced from NADP+ and H: NADP+ + H ---> NADPH This reaction also requires energy, which is obtained from light in the light dependent reaction. The ATP and the NADPH are used in the light dependent reaction to provide energy and a source of H to convert CO2 to CH2O (carbohydrate). The products of the reactions (ADP, Pi, NADP+) are recycled in the light dependent reaction to produce more ATP and NADPH. the products of the light depend reactions help to supply the reactants for the light independent reactions. Example: C6H12O6 + O2 formed by photosynthesis is used in reactants of cellular respiration

What produces oxygen in photosynthesis?

its the by-product in the Calvin cycle or the light dependent reaction

What is the difference between the light dependent and the dark reactions of the Calvin cycle?

What is the difference between the light dependent and the dark reactions of the calvin cycle?

Why can the Calvin cycle work at night but the photosystems connot?

Calvin cycle occurs in the stroma of the chloroplast and utilizes the NADPH and ATP produced in the process of light dependent reaction( or what we say the z- scheme reaction). If both are present then the Calvin cycle can occur even at night. because the Calvin cycle is light independent reaction. whereas the photo system as asked in the question actually refers to light dependent reaction( or what we say the z- scheme reaction) requires light.

Why is the light dependent reaction also called a z-scheme?

No it is wrong. we call it calvin cycle.

What product of tha light dependent reaction used in tha Calvin cycle?

All of the ATP & NADPH2

What two groups of reactions make photosynthesis together?

1. Light dependent reaction (z- scheme reaction) 2. Calvin cycle

What is different between the Calvin cycle and light-dependent reactions?

Light dependent reactions take place in the thylakoid membrane. The Calvin Cycle takes place in the stroma. The light dependent reactions use light energy to make ATP and NADPH. The Calvin Cycle uses these to make CA3P and Co2.

Why is possible for Calvin cycle to occur in the dark?

The Calvin cycle is called the dark cycle because it does not require light to proceed. Unlike light reactions, the Calvin cycle is a light-independent reaction, which means it can and will occur in the dark as well as the light.

Which molecules produced by the light dependent reaction are used during the Calvin cycle?

i have no clue....

What is the differences between the light dependent reactions?

The Calvin cycle occurs at any time of the day, while the light dependent reactions require light. The calvin cycle produces glucose, while the light dependent reactions produce oxygen, ATP, and NADPH. The calvin cycle occurs because of the products of the light dependent reactions.

Why are light dependent reactions important to the light independent reaction?

Light-dependent reactions use light to create ATP and NADPH/Reduced NADP Which is used on the Calvin cycle so of it is not present the cycle cannot continue.

How does light play a role in photosynthesis?

Causes the photolysis of water and enables the calvin cycle to occur or the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis.
