It is sinking because a marine terraces is sand were sand stacks are, so where the marine terraces are, that's were the water use to be. land had been uplifted or that sea level had fallen
This indicates that the layers of sedimentary rock that constain fish fossils (or any other marine fossil for that matter) indicate there once was a body of water lying over that are of the earth whether it being an ocean or just simply a lake.
The exposed rock layers at the Grand Canyon are at least about two billion years old. A good 13,000 feet of sediment and lava were first deposited in coastal and shallow marine environments, e.g. NOT inside the Grand Canyon. Earth's folding (which caused the mountains) brought sediment from the Pacific side. Streams and rivers brought sediments from the Appalachian Mountains in the east, which were folded from both the Pangaea-times sea located in the middle of the country and the Pacific Ocean.
The suffix "M" stands for special design electro. That is the difference... If the letter "M" was used as a prefix it would indicate for Marine use such as a boat engine....
