This operation is illegal in the UK, but the American Breed Standard stipulates:
''The tail is set high, docked, and carried upward. An undocked tail should be severely penalized.''
Usually this breed is docked at around the second vertebre.
You should have your Veterinarian dock the tail within 3-5 days of birth, no later. I hope you are not planning on doing it yourself as would be extremely painful for the dog and could get infected.
when puppies are born, for the first 2 or 3 days I believe, the dogs have little to no blood flow to the tails with almost no sensitivity or control. It is then that most dogs receive the clip.
Please don't try this if you have not done it before. They puppy could bleed to death if you do it wrong. Take it to a veterinarian.
No They are born with a "nub" tail.
Alyssa19~ what dose a nub tail look like
Hey,
You can't because it is against the law.
Usely the tail are dock some owners keep the tail and yes sometimes they do curl.
I have a English bulldog myself, and they have it because every dog needs a tail, that is just a part of the way they are. My dog does in fact have a curly tail, but when i see some other English bulldogs, sometimes they are not curly they are just stumps.
the dock is the tail... the hair is the tail the soild bit its attched to (which is quite short) is the dock.
Yes, Bulldogs wag their tail and it's the cutest thing because their tails are like little "nubs."
At the top of the tail
Malta is a country that is located in southern Europe. It has not signed the European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals treaty however which makes it illegal to dock a dogs tail. It is therefore legal to dock a rotty tail there.

A Dock is a bone that is in the horses tail. It goes about one third of the way down!
It is a Dock. A dock can be where boats stay, and the other dock is the top part of a horses tail.
