Chest freezers for hold more then an upright freezer. The space in an upright freezer is significantly smaller than that of a chest freezer since an Upright freezer is both a fridge and a freezer.
Chest freezers are more efficient than upright freezers. They keep the food at a more constant temperature. It is easier to see in and organise an upright and they take up less floor space but everyone I know who has one has accidently left the door open, losing quite a bit of food in the ensuing thaw.
It depends on what you mean by regular freezers. If you mean the one you find in combination with your fridge then an upright freezer offers you a great deal more space. If you mean a chest freezer being compared to an upright freezer then the chest freezer is cheaper, where the upright freezer will take up less space (surface area).

Upright freezers are more efficient just because they are usually much smaller than chest freezers

If you are opening your own business that is themed around food or a restaurant, you will need commercial freezers. Commercial freezers are larger than household freezers, and you can store more in them. Make sure the freezer you get is large enough to hold all of your foods, but the right size to fit in your business. Commercial freezers can be purchased at restaurant closing sales or at wholesale equipment stores that sell large equipment.
