How do we calculate annual rainfall?

I think you need to add the rainfall of the months with the answer the average rainfall.

I might not be totally correct (maybe i am) but still, research more and try to find the answer.

If you have a value in centimeters (cm), then divide the total centimeters by 2.54 to obtain the inch measurement.

To measure rainfall directly in inches, leave an open cylindrical glass bottle in the rain and then measure the result up the side of the glass.

you pluss all of the rainfall from January to December and then divide by 12 because there are 12 months in a year : D bleh.
