when u mean "for example" u should use "e.g." (abbrevation 4 the Latin phrase exempli gratia). when u mean "that is" u should use "i.e." (Latin phrase id est). Either can be used to clarify the preceding statement, the 1st by example, the 2nd by restating the idea more clearly or expanding upon it. hope u r clear on that now, nd happy exampling ;)
