How do you access the rear spark plugs on a 2000 Hyundai Sonata?

In short there are three bolts (left, center, right) on the back side of the intake manifold. Remove these along with the top bolts and the accelerator cables to gain access to the rear plugs/wires.

remove the pretty plastic on the top of the motor once remove you will have direct access to the front 3 spark plugs, to remove the rear spark plugs remove the intake manifold and then you will be able to access the back bank of spark plugs. then reassemble everything. tools needed ratchet and sockets and large extension

If it is the V6, the plugs are located 3 in the front and 3 in the back. The 3 in front are accessible by removing the plastic cover of the engine. The 3 in back need access by removing the header.

assuming its a V6... You have to remove the air intake manifold in order to get to the back three plugs. The front three you simply remove plastic cover and remove.

The spark plugs are located on the side of the engine, near the bottom. A four-cylinder engine will have two spark plugs on each side. A six-cylinder engine will have three spark plugs on each side.

they come 4 or 6cyls depend on the motor size, a 2.4 is 4cyl ,2.7 is 6 cyl which means either you have 4 spark plugs or 6 sparkplugs.

Disconnect the battery, remove the engine cover, remove the spark plugs wires and boots, and remove the spark plugs. Put in the new spark plugs, replace the spark plug wires and boots, replace the engine cover, and connect the battery.
