Freon is added to a 1990 240sx by connecting a Freon source to the low pressure side of the system and allowing it to pull in Freon. This is done with the vehicle running and the air conditioner blowing.

The 1996 Suburban uses r134 Freon. The fittings to add Freon are different sizes on r12 and r134, making it impossible to add the wrong type to your vehicle.

FreonThe connection is on or close to the receiver dryer. If you add too much, the compressor will lock up or it won't cool very good. They don't sell Freon any longer. By the way, your car takes R134A refrigerant. If you add Freon, you ruin it.
Freon is added through the ac low pressure port. The port is located on the aluminum pipe on the ac line.
You need a refrigerant recovery system and gauges to do it properly.
