I think they to attract them is by having a kiddie pool in your backyard or in the woods they usually live in woods or in little ponds by the woods. If your using a kiddie pool like me i would dig a hole the size of the pool and put it in there then put pond water in it the reason why you have to dig a hole is because some frogs wont be able to get in there attracted a frog in there and its a green or bronze frog i caught it on July 27 2012 it was sitting on a rock half on half off like gray tree frogs laying there eggs but i don't know how green or bronze frogs mate or lay eggs i put it in my frog tank with 4 other fire belly toads for a other question someone asked can a frog or toad lay its eggs with no mate i answerd that one 2. Just be careful when you put water in your kiddie pool in the woods mosquitoes will go there and to attrack frogs to lay eggs put leaves in the pool and they will soon float to the bottom and tadpoles will eat them but do not put tap water in itl when you have tadpoles in it i killed all all the ones in it sadly on July 28. Sorry 4 any typos

[1] Toads eat insects. So keep insect numbers down by monitoring the available water on your property. For example, the mosquito breeding cycle is 96 hours. So empty or remove stagnant and standing water before the fourth day. [2] Keep fish in sources of running water, such as ponds and streams. Fish compete with toads for bugs. And they eat toad eggs. [3] Separate toads from favored lush and watery habitats by putting up toadproof Fencing. That means 1/8" mesh hardware cloth anchored from the surface 4" down into soil, and from the surface 2' up. [4] Take away protective cover. So keep the grounds regularly and closely mown, especially around water sources.

I am the toad\frog expert, so I know how to attract them. Put a cracked pot upside down. Put a shallow dish in the ground by the pot. Use nice, clean, cool, water for it. You may also release some insects by the same area as the pot and dish. That will make a nice tasty meal for a toad, don't you think? Hope this helps.

Sometimes frogs come to your water dish, as well.

I'm am the toad\frog expert, and I now how to attract these critters to your yard. Put a cracked pot upside down where your garden is, or else where you'd like it. Put a shallow dish in the ground by your pot and fill it with fresh, clean, cool, water to attract a toad\frog, or both. When you catch the critter, you can keep him in a tank setup in your house for about 5 days. If you are feeding him, you can keep him for a whole week, but no longer then that. They need to eat the insects in our yards to live. Don't feed them fireflies because they are poison to the toad. Frogs might be fine with them, though. Hope this helps.

If you have a pot that has a crack big enough for a toad to fit in it, then keep it. Flip the pot upside down [you may paint the pot before, if you like] in your garden, or a sunny\shady spot with grass or dirt. You can also put an old shallow bird bath in the ground by your pot. Fill the pool [old bird bath] with cool water from your hose. Make sure to only do this if it is hot out. They like a cool place to hide and a nice cool pool to sit in. If you see droppings in the pool, there's a toad around. Hope this helps.

You might also attract frogs, too. Depending on where you live.

How many tadpoles can a frog make?

A tiny pond, offering less than 100 square feet of surface water, can attract as many as a dozen frogs. You will know they are there because as darkness falls, the frogs will begin to croak and sing in an effort to attract lady frogs. Pretty soon there will be more frogs, a lot of "frogging" and, eventually, several strings of black eggs encapsulated in a slimy tube about 1/16th of an inch wide and as long as two or three feet. It might also present as a glob of eggs. Within three weeks after the croaking, you will notice tiny tadpoles near the surface. To attract the best frogs, supply good foliage, a few rocks and a hearty supply of mosquitoes and gnats.
