Have a helper pump the break pedal then hold it down. Loosen the bleeder valve on a brake caliper. The fluid will come out mixed with air. When the pedal gets to the floor, hold it down. Tighten the valve, then pump the pedal; again. Repeat the process until no air comes out. Move to all wheels and repeat the process.
In order to bleed the brakes of a truck the vehicle should be placed on jack stands with the wheels removed. Placing a tube that connects the bleeder valve to a jar semi-filled with brake fluid will prevent air from returning to the lines. The last step requires keeping the master cylinder filled with brake fluid and pumping the fluid into the lines. These steps are repeated throughout all four wheels.
Starting with the wheel furthest from the brake master cylinder, have someone pump and hold down the brake. Crack open the bleed valve of the brake cylinder then close it. Do this until no air leaves the valve, then proceed to the next one.
I spent 3 days trying to bleed it myself. I finally found that with my Traction Control there is a pump. So you can not bleed if the pump is not working. The solution: Let the engine run during the whole procedure. You then get an incredible pression in the pipes. Oil is coming out for 1 foot long.
To bleed brakes on 2001 GMC Yukon, jack up the vehicle and remove the wheels. Locate the caliper bleeding screws, spray with penetrating oil, and drain.
