Find a good frame/body. Then get a good shop to build engine/tranny/diff. If you know what your doing start putting it together, if not get a good local shop to!
1941 through 48 Chevy cars, 1973 through 78 Chevy Monte Carlo
has to be a 79 or 80 tailight are slightly different that a 78
I owned a 78 Monte Carlo with a stock 305 2 BBL carburetor. If I remember correctly, the HP was 145MPH.
if it is indeed a factory sunroof/moonroof then it is attached to the sunroof mechanism itself, right where the button for open/close is located in front of the rear view mirror
Either a 3-speed or 4-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic
78-87 Monte Carlo is a G-Body GM car that is smaller than a 77-90 Caprice which is a B-Body GM car. The seats in a Monte Carlo will fit in a Caprice, but they may not look quite right. You will need to do bolt location modifications. I would not recommend trying to use a bench seat from a Monte in a Caprice. It is not wide enough.
Solid rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs (1973-1977)
77-85 Impala, 77-90 Caprice, 78-83 Malibu, 78-88 Monte Carlo/El Camino
yes, but for a full u-turn without cutting or rubbing you will need a 13 inch lift
i recently did the same on my 81 monte. her names carla! if you can track down a 78 thru 88 monte the 700r4 trans is to long but the 200r4 overdrive tranny is the same length and yoke as your th350. all monte g bodies were over drive but thr 200r4 and th350 are the same length! good luck and keep that monte on the road!!! see you at the light!
yes it should.
Of the final rear wheel drive generation, 1978 and 1979 were the only two model years GM offered a 3 or 4 speed manual transmission in the Elcamino and all G body models. A manual transmission swap into an '86 would be fairly simple using the components from a salvaged '78 or '79 model (although they are not easy to find). I hope this helps, I own 3 factory manual transmission G bodies. A '78 Monte Carlo, a '79 Monte Carlo and a '79 Cutlass.
