How do you build a box in minecraft?

Well I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'box', but if you mean a chest where you can put things in, then you need to have a crafting table first. Do this by placing wooden planks on all the squares in your inventory.

Ok, done that? Cool, so to make a chest put wooden planks all around the edge leaving one space empty in the middle. Annnnnd there you have it! To make a super-large storage unit, make two chests then place them next to eachother. To pick it up you need to hit it repeatedly with something. I don't know how this works, but whatever...

1 log equals 4 blocks of wooden planks, use the four wooden planks and place all 4 of them in a square and you get a crafting bench.
