How do you build a lizard trap?

Take a large high sided glass bowl. Put some food attractant in it. Smear the sides of the bowl with any thick oil. Voila!! The gecko will not be able to climb out. Preferably put in a cock roach which will keep moving but will not be ably to climb out too.

If your animal has escaped its terrarium, it is best to leave the terrarium open, with a misting and food provided. The animal will search for a damper area and look for something to feed on.

If you're looking into catching wild geckos, the best way is to search, as if it was field study. House geckos can be found in moist and damp area's during their "cooling periods" and during the hot summers they can be found scaling rocky surfaces, even urbanized area's with concrete or brick buildings.

I've never actually made a gecko trap but I'm looking everywhere for ideas. One design that appears to have merit is a plastic bowl with suitable food attractant in bottom and sides smeared with oil or grease so the little beasts can't climb out. I'd really prefer something that kills the things as I understand the ones infesting Brisbane Australia are an imported species. They certainly weren't around 20 years ago.

Well, you know, you can buy crickets from the pet store in a little container. We do that for our lizard. But if you live in the country, you can either catch them with your hands, because they won't hurt you, or you can put a container out in the middle of the field where you know their are lots of crickets, and put cricket food in it. If you don't know what cricket food is, you can ask the clerk at the nearest pet store. If you see that the crickets are attracting to the container, you may want to check it every hour or so. If you don't wanna go through that hassle, just buy them, they are really cheap!!
