You can measure the current and power of a 'power supply', using an ammeter and a wattmeter.

With the power supply connected to its load, the ammeter must be connected in series with the power supply's input. The wattmeter's current coil must also be connected in series with the power supply's input, and its voltage coil must be connected in parallel with the supply, taking the instrument's polarity markings into account.

Watts is the product of amps x volts. Add up all of your connected loads and that will be your total watts that are needed for the power supply to produce.

How many vA equal to 1watt?

In a.c. circuits, the watt is used to measure the true power of a load, and is determined by multiplying the supply voltage by the load current by the power-factor of the load. The volt ampere is used to measure the apparent power of a load, and is determined by multiplying the supply voltage by the load current. So the relationship between the watt and the volt ampere depends on the power factor of the load. For example a 100 VA load with a power factor of 0.8 (leading or lagging) will have a true power of 80 W.

How Kilowatt to amperes?

The symbol for 'kilowatt' is 'kW', not 'Kw'.The kilowatt is used to measure power, whereas the ampere is used to measure current. These are different quantities, so you cannot simply convert one to the other. It's a little like asking "How do you convert kilometres per hour into newtons per metre?"!However, if you know that the power-rating of a kettle is 3 kW, and the supply voltage is 230 V, then you can find out the resulting current by dividing the power by the voltage. In this example, the current would work out at 13 A.

How many watt in 250 VA?

What quantity is watt measured in?

A wattmeter is used to measure the power of a load.

What are different measurements of electricity and what aspects of electricity do they measure?

Here are some common units, and what they measure:volt - voltage ampere - current ohm - resistance siemens - conductance hertz - frequency (dimensionless number) - power factor watt - power

How many kilowats are in 1 amp?

Watts (or kilowatts) and amperes are used to measure different things. Watts is a unit of power; ampere is a unit of current. The relationship (for direct current) is: watt = ampere x volt For AC, the relationship is a bit more complicated: watt = ampere x volt x power factor However, the power factor is often close to one.

What is 5280W to Kilovolt Ampere?

1000v times 5.2amps.AnswerThe watt is used to measure true power. The volt ampere is used to measure apparent power. So, you cannot convert one to the other, as they measure different quantities. However, when the current and voltage are in phase with each other (i.e. having unity power factor), the apparent power will equal the true power.

1mva equal to how many kw?

Basically VA is the same as watt. Kilo means thousand, Mega (abbreviatted M) means a million.AnswerThe watt and the volt ampere are used to measure two different quantities and, so, cannot be directly converted one to the other. The watt is used to measure 'true power', while the volt ampere is used to measure 'apparent power'.There is, though, a relationship between the two, as the true power of a load is equal to its apparent power multiplied by the power factor of that load. So, if you know the power factor (which can vary from 0 to 1), then you can determine the true power of a load, if you are given its apparent power.Incidentally, SI doesn't recognise either the volt ampere (apparent power) or reactive volt ampere (reactive power); all forms of 'power' are measured in watts in SI. The volt ampere and the reactive volt ampere are best described as 'traditional' units.

What is a volt-ampere the product of?

A volt - ampere is the unit for the product of voltage and current. This is power. Power = voltage x current. The unit of power is more usually called the watt. Volts x amps = watts.

Difference between watt and volt-amperes?

Watt is the unit of real power, which is the portion of power that does useful work. Volt-amperes is the unit of apparent power, which is the combination of real power and reactive power used by an electrical system. The difference between the two is that volt-amperes includes both real power and reactive power, while watt only measures real power.

What is the unit of measure for reactive power?

Volt Amps [volts times amps] is used for reactive and apparent power. Watts (dimensionally the same as volt amps) is used to indicate real power.AnswerReactive power is measured in reactive volt amperes (var).
