How do you change 2003 Volvo S40 brake pads?

Pull the wheels off, take off the six small bolts on the hub assembly, remove the large bolt holding the hub assembly on, remove the caliper, pull the hub assembly off and the rotor will then be free.

Remove road wheel. Undo handbrake cable - pull off hook with pliers. Remove two bolts from inboard side of caliper. Remove top half, pull out pads. Re wind rear brake piston - using special tool (buy one they are a life saver and less than £10 don't attempt it any other way!!) Wire brush any loose material from the caliper giudes. Copper grease mating surfaces on pads, replace brake caliper top half push to edge against springs, replace top bolt to secure then push bottom half of caliper back and replace bolt. Simples.

Begin by removing the tire and wheel from your 1997 Toyota. Remove the brake spring and the brake caliper. The brake pads will come off. Reverse the process to install your new brake pads.

Lift the car, remove the tire, remove the brake shoe/caliper and remove the old brake pads. Put in new brake pads, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire and lower the car.
