In order to get a higher speed from a LAN you must ensure that the cabling, all network connectivity devices (switches, etc) and NICs are capable of that higher speed.

In other words, you may also have to upgrade your equipment for a higher speed.

There are 8 wires in my broadband UTP connection. But my network operator connect only 4 wires.4 wires didn't connect.is it the only reason of my slow internet speed?

That is normal. Only 2 pairs of wires are used in LAN connections at 10Mbps or 100Mbps.

Why WAN link speed is way less than LAN speed?

why the lan high speed than wan

Which factor must you consider when using online backups that you dont typically have to consider when backing up to a LAN tape drive?

The speed of WAN is limited to 10mbps, where a local network or LAN can be as high as 1000bps. Typical LAN speeds are actually less but more than data going out to the WAN or world wide web. Online backups are usually slower. Data storage is also off-site, so if your business burns down, you still can access your data.

If a file takes 15 seconds to transfer across a 1Gbps LAN how many minutes will it take to transfer that same file across a 10Mbps LAN if all else is equal?

Well giga = 1000 mega. So I would say 100 seconds? Simple math?

What is the solution to do change lan speed from 10mbps to 1gbps?

Network performance tweaking is based on a lot of factors and cannot be resolved by asking a one-line qts. in short, there are a lot of factors that would govern a speed change in your LAN. I'll give you a general idea though. If, for instance, your LAN consists of a server and 2 host systems connected through a switch, the NIC's on the three systems and the switch will need to be upgraded to support Giga-bit LAN speeds. Then comes the cabling, which needs to be Cat-5, or preferably Cat-5e. Another important mention is that, even after the above modifications to your LAN set-up, you shall only see a theoretical 1gbps transfer rate, the actual rate is significantly affected by each and every component attached, including the 2 hosts ans the server. Then there is attenuation, noise, etc. This is a description in a nutshell. if you did not understand it, by all means i would encourage you to research into it, but if you are not confident enough, then networking is a (black-)art best left to experts!

What is the speed of LAN?

LANs typically range in speed from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps, although some newer LAN technologies are boosting the speed to 10 Gbps at least.

What is the maximum bandwidth of LAN?

LAN Bandwidth is the bandwidth (Maximum speed) of the Local Area Network

Which is faster LAN or USB?

LAN is a networking concept that can be achieved at any speed. USB is a bus interface.

How can you solve the low and limited connection problem error of Lan Card?

Either replace the NIC card, change the cables, and/or network connection devices to a higher speed.

Factors that can affect the response times on a LAN?

Hi, I assume the cable is UTP cable. 1. Cable length (from the switch/hub to the PC) is more than 100 meters2. Poor crimping (putting connector)3. Poor connections Jack panel4. The IRQ address of the LAN card is clashing with any other device in the PC5. Connecting 100Mbps card to 10Mbps network6. IP address clash with another PC's IP address (same IP defined in more than 1 machine)7. Route table definition in the Switch/Router Things like this are the main cause of poor performance Hope this helps

What is the boud rate of the 10Mbps 802.3 LAN?

The Ethernet uses Manchester encoding, which means it has two signal periods per bit sent. The data rate of the standard Ethernet is 10 Mbps, so the baud rate is twice that, or 20 megabaud.
