I am assuming your car has the 3800 motor. The belt tensioner is remover by first taking off the serpentine belt by using a large socket or a belt tensioner wrench on the pulley bolt and turning CLOCKWISE to release tension on the belt. Remove the belt from the pulley and either leave hanging or remove. Slowly let the tensioner return to its former place (It is spring loaded, be careful not to let it snap back). Once it is slack simply remove it by pulling out the attaching bolts to the pulley bracket and install your new unit. Replace the belt by using your socket wrench and pulling back on the pulley and performing the earlier belt removal procedure in reverse.
where do the thermostat go in my 93 buick lesabre
The belt tensioner on a 1993 Buick LeSabre is located below and slightly to the left of the alternator if you are facing the passenger side of the car **Note there should be a diagram somewhere in the engine compartment, if not drawing one before removing the alternator belt for any reason will save you a major headache later on. GOOD LUCK
The weight of a 1993 Buick Lesabre is approximately 3,340 lbs. The Lesabre has seating for six passengers to ride comfortably.
The 1993 Buick LeSabre Limited 4 door sedan has a curb weight of 3,454 lbs.
Dealer? Locksmith?
yes
If it is the same 3800 engine as the 1993 Lesabre--very simple. Alternator is right on top of the engine. Loosen the serpentine belt ( tensioner) - remove the mounting bolts that hold the alternator on the bracket- remove the wire connections.
