this is not a very straightforward job the sump and gearbox have to come out unless you are very competant id leave it to the dealer/reputable mechanic the early k12 had a tendancy for the timing chain to stretch (unbeliveable i know) usually at about 20k to 25k miles this shows up as an engine management fault usually the camshaft position actuator sensor which for the sake of £20(genuine Nissan part) might be worth changing which is fairly easy to do remove airbox/rocker but its more likely the chain. The dealer price is £800+ but it does take 10 hours to do so if you want to have a crack yourself allow at least 2 days i know that this is not much use but if anyone else reads this it might enlighten them a bit maybe its time for a trade in you can get a timing chain kit of eBay
