Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery; disconnect the sensor connection; the sensor is located in the exhaust; drowned the threads in release compound; don't even try to remove an O2 sensor without first doing this, you will stip the threads or break of the sensor; let soak for about 5 mins, then unscrew; might be necessary to heat also with a torch, clean threads in exhaust and put and antiseize compound that is sensor safe and reinstall to appropriate torque, and reconnect sensor and battery.

oxygen sensors are located just forward of your engine. In front of the engine is the catalytic converter. At the top at the bottom are your oxygen sensors.

Osiliscope or a scanner. You need to see the wave pattern to check it properly.

Which oxygen sensor? There are two of them. They each have 4 wires and each wire has two colors. There were two models of the f250 also, need to know engine size. Sorry.

Why the hi beam and day light are not working but the low beam are working good on sunfire 99?

User Avatar

Yes, it measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust as compared to the oxygen in the atmosphere. A faulty 02 sensor will make the engine run rich and eventually ruin the catalytic converter not to mention bad gas mileage.
