How do you change front struts on a 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix?

You can replace the strut cartridges without removing the entire assembly. Simply jack up the front of the vehicle, and rest it securely on jack stands. Remove the top cover plates covering the strut towers (held on by three nuts). Once the plate cover is off, remove the upper strut nut, and remove the rubber mount. You'll need a special die-tool to remove the strut cartridges.. Remove the old ones, install the new. Torque them to the proper spec. Re-install the mount, the upper nut, and the plate cover.
