is it a big job to change a heater core on apt cruiser2001 limited
The heater core has failed.
the whole dash has to come out in order to change the heater core plus the a/c system has to be discharge i don't recommend DIY but if you do you'll need freon, orange antifreeze and the schematic you can get this in alldata.com for that particular model and before you even start disconnect the battery good luck!
The 2002 PT Cruiser block heater is located on the front of the engine block. You should be able to follow the block heater cord to the block heater.
In order to change the evaporator in Pt Cruiser, the entire dash has to be removed, then replace the evaporator, and reinstall the complete dash.
Many things....heater core is clogged stopping flow....low coolant...air fan could b cooked they tend to go after bout 100k....chk for leaks...
Did you ever have a coolant leak?
not enough collant . water valve in heater hose could not be shutting off and letting hot water flow through the heater core. compressor not staying engaged.
chk coolant, chk coolant hose to turbo if it's a turbo. my hose was leaking causing overheating. My 2006 had a clogged heater core causing flow problems. Also the cooling fan is known to fail after 100k miles.
