Changing the motor oil in a four stroke outboard is easy once you get set up to catch the spent oil. Have plenty of rags or shop towels on hand to mop up any spills. Some service shops use an oil pump to remove the used oil, so that is one option. I am sort of old school however, and prefer to drain the oil out of the sump, so this is the method I will describe. Trim engine down so that it is in verticle position. A 5 gallon jug, with a long flexible funnel inserted into the hole in the lid, works great for draining the oil. Locate the drain plug on the port side of the exhaust housing (leg) of the engine. Secure your jug and funnel assembly under the drain plug and remove it. Make sure that you have the funnel in position to catch the oil as it will gush out quickly. It is good practice to slowly screw out the plug as you hold pressure against it, and is suggested to wear gloves while doing so. Be aware that there is a metal gasket on the drain plug, Yamaha instructs to replace this gasket with a new one. Allow oil to drain until sump is empty, replace plug/gasket. Screw off the oil filter, located on side of powerhead, and replace with a new one. Stuffing a couple of rags under the filter before removal will catch any spillage. Also, don't forget to lube the seal of the new filter with oil. Screw out the oil filler tube plug, on backside of the powerhead, near the top, and begin filling with fresh oil. I believe the 115 model holds 5 liters with a new filter, check the oil level after 4 liters so as not to over fill. When the level shows full on the stick, replace the fill cap, supply water and run engine for about 5 minuets at idle. While engine runs, check for any leaks, particularly around filter and drain plug. Shut off engine, let set for a few minuets, to allow oil to drain back to the sump, and check oil level. Top off if needed.
4 stroke. A Yamaha Blaster is a two stroke and so is a Yamaha Banshee but not a warrior.
