take the trans pan off remove filter
Best advice? Get a shop manual for vehicle from any auto parts store.$20 + or -.It should have a "trouble shooting" procedure for the transmission.
Drop the tranny pan and remove your transmission filter once that is done your shift solenoid is right there
Auto parts store, dealership
The shift interlock solenoid is located inside the console close to the shfiter.
My check engine light came on in my 2000 Ford zx2...It gave that code and said shift solenoid A. I did a little research and found out shift solenoids are only in automatic transmissions. They're like a chip that tells the transmission when to shift gears. So if your car is hesitating between gears, the solenoid may need replaced or there could just be a problem with one of the wires.
its beside the shifter under the console. if your car is stuck in park, take off the console, and pull the shift solenoid out or engage it and then zip tie it to a bracket that doesn't move. and it will work from now on.
The solenoid is on the starter.
Heard something.about after you take tyranny pan off and filter should be 3 to 4 right there good look having same issuse with my zx2
The solenoid, on your 1999 Ford escort, is located on the top of the starter. The solenoid has for retaining screws, to hold it in place.
beside the shifter, there is a little tab that can be accessed to shift it out of park if the solenoid goes out, just stick a screwdriver down there and you can shift it temporarily. just take out the center console and zip tie it while you have it engaged and it will work from now on.
