To change the shocks on a 1996 Toyota Tacoma (T100), start by lifting the vehicle and securing it on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the shock absorber. Unbolt the lower shock mount and then the upper mount, using a socket wrench. Once removed, install the new shock by reversing the process, ensuring all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications before lowering the vehicle.
The VIN number won't be on the bed.

I paid 79.99 each for my back struts then had my dad change them for me. Pretty simple actually
no, at least not if your T100 has the 60/40 bench. The 4runner seat mounts are closer together than the mounting holes on the T100. I put a 97 4runner drivers seat in my 96 T100, but it required lots of cutting drilling and a handful of grade 8 bolts. Can be done, just not straightforward.
