First get a good transmission pan gasket because the trans pan will have to come off to change the fluid, its best to get the gasket with the filter in the kit, its only like 1-2 dollars more and will save you from having to redo it all cause you need a filter... clean the magnet that's on the trans pan, install new filter then install the pan plus gasket... It is best to only use about half a quart of fluid at a time as your putting it in the transmission because its best to use alittle amount of it just incase you have a leak that way you wont waste nothing... ATF+4 is the recommended trans fluid for all Chrysler Transmissions.
The manual shift transmission does not have a filter.
the transmission is made by new process gear

To change the transmission pan gasket on a 1991 Dodge Shadow, first, safely lift the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Drain the transmission fluid by removing the drain plug or loosening the transmission pan bolts, allowing the fluid to flow out. Remove the transmission pan by unbolting it, clean the mating surfaces, and install the new gasket. Reattach the pan, torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications, and refill the transmission with the appropriate fluid.
