Start by getting all of your supplies. You'll need a replacement fuel filter (duh?) and the fuel line disconnector tool (Ford and Chrysler have a specific tool). Open the hood and remove the fuel pump relay (mine was relay #2). Turn the engine over for 20-30 seconds. This will relieve the pressure from the gas line. Note: some fuel will remain in the line. Crawl under the drivers side and find the old filter. There will be two clips holding the line to the filter (one on each side). Remove these clips and remove the leading line by slipping the tool under the clip. You'll probably have to push the fuel line forward, push the tool into the line, and then pull the fuel line backwards. I suggest attaching the new filter to the leading line to prevent the gas from dripping on you. You can also reattach the fuel line clip since you'll have more room to work. The back line is harder to reach but you should follow the same removal procedure. Once removed you can pull the old fuel filter through the mount and push the new one in. Reattach the line as fast as possible to prevent gas leakage. Reattach the fuel line clip. You can now reinsert the relay switch and start the vehicle.
