I too own a 2002 sport trac. My son used a store gauge that has a high and lower pressure gauge. The blue gauge is for the low side and the red is for the high side. Your low pressure line for the ac is near the firewall and high pressure is near the compressor near the front of the truck. On the guage system you have a red, blue and yellow line. Yellow line is in the middle. You hook up the red to the high side, blue to the low side and then use the yellow to hook a can of freon onto. Pressure on the low side gauge should not go over 35 psi and the high side should not go over 225 to 250 max. try to stay around 225 psi in the high line. Once hooked up you open the valve on the gauge for the red and then do the blue. Red first then blue. WATCH THE GAUGES TO ENSURE YOU DO NOT OVER FILL OR OVER PRESSURE THE UNIT!!! If it makes any crazy noises turn it off immediately and it it appears to have over filled you will need to take it to get some of the freon removed. My compressor cycles on and off but and if yours does it is probably safe to add freon. If it does not then I would not add anything and just take it somewhere to have it checked out. I know in this day and time we all want to save money but we have to be very careful or we could end up with major medical bills. Frost bite from freon is not fun. Please be careful. Good luck I hope you can get your ac up and running. I am using the cans with the leak stop just incase there is a problem of a leak.
