you can put it up on lifts u want to grab the tire and shake it up and down and side to side and look for excessice play, a helper may be needed to look for play, worn cracked grease boots will quicken the wear of the ball joints. u should put a bit of mussle into this as i have seen ball joints barely move but when u pull them they pretty much fall apart. u can also buy a grease gun and fill the joints till the rubber boot just barely expands a dry joint has much more friction and will fail.
I just paid $400 for upper ball joints on a 2001 dodge ram van. Also had to get $50 alignment. That was at Tire Discounters.
propane torch glue will run out
Need to check the U-joints in the driveshaft.
check the u-joints
The first thing that I would check is the ball joints. Make sure that they are installed correctly or are not bad. This could be one thing to check.
I have a 99. The lowers are pressed in, the uppers are riveted.
Check the steering arms, the tie rod ends, and the ball joints for wear. Any of these will cause the problem.
How do I check my transmission fluid on my 2008 dodge grand caravan ... to service a 2014 Dodge caravan w/c van that doesn't have a dipstick to check fluid
it wouldn't be the first time. Go to another shop. Suspension ball joints must not have any wear.. it's called "0" free play.. you as a driver will not notice any difference in how your vehicle performs unless the ball joints are very badly worn.
could be many reasons, my truck does the same thing sometimes, things that you could check are: engine belts and pulleys wheel bearings/ball joints engine/transmition mounts
Most ball joints are greased with a grease gun with a good quality grease.
I had this problem on my 2000. I lubed all the fittings, especially upper and lower ball joints and the noise went away. Chevy wants you to lube every oil change. If you still hear the noise you'll have to replace. Check the Anti-Sway Bar bushings and where they attach to the A-Arm.
