You can check the 4x4 relay switch by gaining access to the fuse box. The fuse box on a 92 Explorer under the hood and then use the owners manual to locate the relay switch.

My Explorer did that and I had to take the dash panel out where you will find a black or green box right beside where the radio goes, you will have to replace it.
check the ignition switch under the console on the steering column
The 2000 Chevrolet S 10 pickup truck air conditioning relay switch can be found in the fuse box. The relay switch will be in the third column.
Switch, circuit, shift motor
It is located under the driver side dash bourd. The relay switch will most likely have the "Ford" logo on it.
The relay is on the left side of the power brake booster/.
there is a "Brown wire" under the vehicle that will kick the dif in and out but you can just remove your 4x4 fuse or relay but the easiest way would just to snip the brown wire and put an inline switch in so that you can select between 2 wheel and auto 4 wheel then your dial can select 4x4 high and low If you have any explorer questions feel free to e-mail me at nickcook@cogeco.ca
check that the lock that locks your front tyres into 4x4 still works and if your 4x4 is activated by switch get your electrics checked

It is located on the back of the ECM. It is the large metal box not the white plastic one.
